Privacy Policy
Montlake is proud to provide our customers with on line loss experience. Every effort has been made to ensure the confidentiality of your data and the security of the applications that deliver it to you. Security features of both NTFS and IIS have been employed to keep passwords, data, and source code private. Nonetheless, it is impossible to guarantee that no breach of security will occur. This is the trade off between the convenience of having easy access to up-to-date information and the need to keep that information confidential. Just as someone may steal your mail, it may be possible for a hacker to access information to which he is not entitled. We actively monitor the activity on our web site and our data server. If we become aware of attempts to circumvent our security measures, we will immediately shut down the system. In the event that our customers become aware of a potential security problem, we would expect that they would advise us of it. Passwords Montlake will assign a user name and password to each valid policyholder that requests one. The user identification, (id) and password are not specific to an individual user, but are assigned to a policyholder's organization. It is the responsibility of each policyholder to keep the assigned user id and password secure and to regularly change their password to ensure the data remains confidential. Montlake cannot be held responsible for the misuse of these assigned user names and passwords. In order to change your password you must first log in to the On Line Loss Experience Menu using your old password. At the first menu screen select Change your password from the list of options. You will be prompted to enter your User ID, current password, and your new password. It will ask you to enter your new password twice to confirm it. Select the Change it! button. Once your changes are validated you will see a message confirming the change. Select Continue to return to the main menu. Data Security All data is contained in a password protected Microsoft® SQL Server© database. The data cannot be accessed unless the user has a valid user id and password. For any data transmitted over the Internet, Montlake uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL 3.0, RC4 with 128 bit encryption) encryption and a digital certificate of authority provided by Equifax Secure Inc. SSL technology is the industry standard in security protocol. Using this technology provides reasonable assurance that your data is protected and secure. |
